The 99 Percent

I read this article :

http://the99percent.com/articles/7095/The-Future-of-Self-Improvement-Part-II-The-Dilemma-of-Coaching-Yourself

The article discusses how people achieve a mediocre level of success, and then fail to progress any further. It asks and tries to answer how some people become experts of their field, while others, seem to say, good enough, and loose motivation for evolution. The article cites two examples, of a basket ball player and a surgeon, and suggests that the expert level of understanding and performance is not achieved through talent, but instead persistence and self analysis. It points out that self analysis is painful- people don't want to know that they are lacking in any sence of the word, but it says that people who are introspective, and try to apply changes to the problems that they see.  The article unintentionally suggests that everyone should look at everything they do under a critical microscope. I agree that if a drive or passion is held for a certain topic, that self analysis and a critical eye would deffinitly improve a person's skills. But the article fails to state that this process would be good to apply to just one, maybe two areas of his or her life. If all of life is gone through with a overly critical eye, I doubt that the person would ever be calm and happy.  Overly thinking everything with a critical eye would not help someone achieve expertice,  it would help them to achieve a severe level of crazy.
